The Perfection of Crony Capitalism: Use Regulation to Destroy Competitors
Man shocked by arrest after daughter draws picture of gun at school
This guy’s 4 year old daughter drew a picture of a man holding a gun, so they arrested him, took his kids in for questioning, strip searched him, held him in jail, then told him never-mind that they had decided not to charge him and let him go.
This man and his family was subjected to an entirely unnecessary traumatic experience, his time was wasted, and his freedom was temporarily taken. What kind of compensation can he expect for his troubles? Nothing, because the government all too often acts with impunity.

I Tried to Open a Lemonade Stand
Don’t we all have a right to our choices?
“Pro-choice advocates are quite right to upbraid Republicans for opposing big government everywhere except the uterus: Do they really believe their own rhetoric about government and individual rights? It’s a fair question. It’s also a question abortion-rights advocates might want to ask themselves.” Read More
Over-regulated America
AMERICANS love to laugh at ridiculous regulations. A Florida law requires vending-machine labels to urge the public to file a report if the label is not there. The Federal Railroad Administration insists that all trains must be painted with an “F” at the front, so you can tell which end is which. Bureaucratic busybodies in Bethesda, Maryland, have shut down children’s lemonade stands because the enterprising young moppets did not have trading licences. The list goes hilariously on. Read More

Ron Paul got you confused?
By: Stephen Carter
The go-to guide on understanding Ron Paul and a Paul presidency.
For a summary of most topics in this piece via video format, please scroll to the bottom.
Ron Paul is a very unique politician that sharply stands out from others. Having served 24 years in the U.S. House of Representatives he has a record of being an outsider in congress; having never voted for a budget that would increase U.S. debt, choosing to opt out of the congressional pension plan, returning unspent money from his congressional office each year, and sponsoring bills where other politicians dare not tread, he is a rare breed that stands on principle. When he talks to people he doesn’t flop around in order to get votes, he means what he says and doesn’t try to mislead people. His goal is a constitutionally restricted federal government that promotes liberty for all and he has demonstrated his seriousness of this issue time and time again.
With all of that being said, there’s still quite the misunderstanding of who Ron Paul is and why he thinks the way he does. Many still know very little about the man, which is common in our drive-by, sound bite driven media. It is my hope to present to you here a full summary of who Ron Paul is, what his political stances are and where they are derived from, as well as tackle many of the questions surrounding Paul and what his presidency might look like. The Afghanistan Report the Pentagon Doesn’t Want You to Read
Earlier this week, the New York Times’ Scott Shane published a bombshell piece about Lt. Colonel Daniel Davis, a 17-year Army veteran recently returned from a second tour in Afghanistan. According to the Times, the 48-year-old Davis had written an 84-page unclassified report, as well as a classified report, offering his assessment of the decade-long war. That assessment is essentially that the war has been a disaster and the military’s top brass has not leveled with the American public about just how badly it’s been going. “How many more men must die in support of a mission that is not succeeding?” Davis boldly asks in an article summarizing his views in The Armed Forces Journal. The Depression You’ve Never Heard Of: 1920-1921
When it comes to diagnosing the causes of the Great Depression and prescribing cures for our present recession, the pundits and economists from the biggest schools typically argue about two different types of intervention. Big-government Keynesians, such as Paul Krugman, argue for massive fiscal stimulus—that is, huge budget deficits—to fill the gap in aggregate demand. On the other hand, small-government monetarists, who follow in the laissez-faire tradition of Milton Friedman, believe that the Federal Reserve needs to pump in more money to prevent the economy from falling into deep depression. Yet both sides of the debate agree that it would be utter disaster for the government and Fed to stand back and allow market forces to run their natural course after a major stock market or housing crash.
In contrast, many Austrian economists reject both forms of intervention. They argue that the free market would respond in the most efficient manner possible after a major disruption (such as the 1929 stock market crash or the housing bubble in our own times). As we shall see, the U.S. experience during the 1920–1921 depression—one that the reader has probably never heard of—is almost a laboratory experiment showcasing the flaws of both the Keynesian and monetarist prescriptions. The problem with liberals and libertarians
By: Stephen Carter
Two halves make a whole and in this case it’s one half liberal and one half libertarian. The two naturally go together, actually complement one another and as long as they’re willing to set emotions aside and genuinely talk and listen to one another, they’re able to keep things in perspective and make up for one another’s shortcomings. 26 Things Non-Paul Voters Are Basically Saying
Just what do the wealthy do with their money, anyway?
I have heard arguments about how much money the rich have, and how they don’t need so much. Sometimes it seems as though they are pushing the notion that there is only so much money in the economy (sort of true) and that any time the rich get some (and they get a lot) it disappears, never to be seen by the poor and middle class. This, however, is not true. Read more…

Why Libertarians Need to Talk With the Left and How to Do It
Libertarians should talk with the Left and need to learn how. Read More
–A top notch read, highly recommended, especially if you are a libertarian. A great blend of history and leveled critique of the modern libertarian. You may just realize that you’re not so “libertarian” after all after reading this.
